Our Business

8,000 employees. 5 million products. 23 countries. One rewarding career – Yours.

In the UK, Brammer Buck & Hickman is the most trusted single source of industrial supplies, thanks to our buying power and financial stability that comes from being part of Europe’s largest industrial distribution business, Rubix.

Together, Brammer Buck & Hickman provide the essential products and services that keep industry moving. The diverse maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) product portfolio offered by us helps reduce unplanned downtime and increase energy efficiency in manufacturing facilities up and down the country – and in every sector. In addition we specialise in health & safety products, tools and general maintenance equipment– protecting workers from occupational hazards and ensuring they’re fully kitted out for the job at hand. Whether it’s food and drink, packaging, aerospace, aggregates, textiles or automotive manufacturing, our products make all the difference.

We’re passionate about exceeding customer expectations, and we do this through providing unrivalled technical know-how and personalised service, all underpinned by our broad product portfolio. We’re there to support them throughout all the challenges they face as manufacturers, adding value through our expertise and dedicated service. That’s where our people make all the difference.

What we do

With more than five million different product lines – 500,000 of which are in stock at any one time – we offer single-source availability of some of the world’s leading maintenance and health & safety brands. Many of the brands we work closely with are household names: 3M, Stanley, Bosch and Siemens to name a few. But whether they’re globally recognised or niche specialists, we carefully select our product portfolio to offer customers the greatest variety and choice within our key product areas: bearings; mechanical power transmission; electrical power transmission; fluid power; health & safety; and tools and general maintenance.

We do all of this from a network of branches nationwide and more than 100 Insite™ facilities around the country, and with a centrally-located National Distribution Centre in the Midlands too, we pride ourselves on delivering the right product at the right time at the right price.

Our strength lies in our engineering expertise, and our close relationship with the brands we supply. It’s what allows us to add value and as a result help reduce total acquisition costs, improve overall production efficiency, and reduce working capital.

Sustainability and our accreditations

Ethics and the environment are at the heart of everything we do. We make every effort to reduce our impact on the environment and to promote good environmental practice.  We are fully committed to making a positive contribution to the well-being of our employees, customers and community, as well as the planet.

We’re proud to be an ISO 14001:2015 accredited business (the standard that specifies the requirements for an environmental management system). This is in recognition of our commitment to practises that positively impact the environment. One of our key business aims is to protect the environment from any adverse effects of our operations, whilst driving efficiencies and energy savings for our customers.

Most recently we have received a Silver recognition certificate from the independent Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform, EcoVadis. We were assessed against 21 key criteria, including environment, human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Built around global standards such as those set out by ISO, this certification demonstrates our performance in line with international corporate social responsibility standards.

Our other ISO accreditations in place across all our sites are:

  • ISO9001:2015 Quality Management Standard
  • OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety Standard – the latest requirements for providing exemplary systems management, customer service, performance and efficiency

Plus we have been successfully re-awarded Achilles accreditations including SafeContractor and Building Confidence (for the construction industry) and UDVB for suppliers to utilities companies.

These Achilles standards rigorously test the ability of suppliers to meet the desired industry standards. Holding Achilles status means our customers are freed from the exhaustive process of checking our compliance with the relevant construction regulations and legislation, making sure we’re as easy to do business with as possible.
